Can't really tell, no damage to ribs like a projectile, so don't know.

The bases are bigger than the antler so maybe old?

No obvious damage makes it hard to figure out how he died.  Maybe as you said old age got him.

Nothing went to waste, all that is left is bones and the skin on face...

Hope it isn't blue tongue.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

He was a long ways from any water, they usually go to water with EHD ,

But, there was a couple deer in a little pond last year, maybe he couldn't make it to water... Hmmm...

I hope not Kenny.  Our herd has not recovered from the half dozen rounds of it we've had in Harrison county.
I keep getting offers from real estate places to buy my land.  If they weren't offering insultingly low prices I might consider it.  Makes for some tough seasons and very few filled tags the last 15 plus years.

EHD usually gets them right around the time the velvet comes off, those horns don't look like they were newly shed of velvet when he died. Bullet thru the guts doesnt break any ribs or leave sign.  Looks like a hunting season non-recovery to me.

Found a couple this year myself.

If a buck ever made it long enough to die of old age it's unlikely hed tip over carrying his horns, more likely hed die late winter/early spring after hes shed out, that's the tough time of year.

I'd agree with Ryan.  If not disease, likely gut shot.  :coffee:

It always sucks when we find them like that. Just like us, they all die, just not all by our hands.

That stinks!

It did, for sure.  Put him in the pond for the fish to nibble on, will get him out next fall and get papers from MDC to be legal. Got one in the shop much larger from a few years back...
Stay sharp, Kenny.
