I've had maybe a dozen of these over 40 years, I have 3 now with this new one.
And I had 6 Micrometers from 0 to 6" but those are all gone.
The dial face (clear) is gone off of 1 that I use inside the house.
The dial face is scratched up on the 2nd one in the bow shop.
Sometimes they get a piece of grit on the rack or pinion and jump timing from 0.000 and I take them appart for cleaning.
And this new one, all are Brown and Sharp (Swiss made) My dad and my Mentor would only let me buy Brown and Sharp or Starrett. Back in the 80's these 2 were the only ones and the best to buy pretty much. Now there are all kinds

Brown and Sharp are my favorite.

I have 2 or 3 of them, dials and digitals, no Brown & Sharp though. The one I use most in the shop is a Mitutoyo digital. I like it. Works good. It was $125 as well. It's been fine for years, but I should probably think about getting a spare.

I guess that I had better not mention the $1 plastic one I use...
Oh crap, I just did. 🤭😁
I have a better one, but that little plastic one is always on the bench because I don't care if it falls or gets banged around.

I have a Mitutoyo that was my dad's.  The glass dial cover is missing but I use it and place it and store it with great care.  You Guys have me thinking there may be a replacement cover??

They do have clear covers but you need a tool to press it in on the Brown and Sharp

Is there such a thing as a good digital dial indicator?

Say what??  Thats what spares are for

So a Starrett or Brown & Sharp brand digital display would be a good choice?
I was just wondering about accuracy and if digitals are as good as dials

Mad Max

By the time you get it turned on I have already measured mine  :biglaugh:
