Gorgeous bow. I started with boo-backed Osage, but switched to hickory backing because boo always took a set, and shoots slower than hick. Also, it's harder to work with due to the roundness, ridges, etc. But the darn hick keeps splitting on me, even with moderate designs (little or no r/d). Some hick back lasts forever, and gives more speed, less string follow, and in my humble opinion better looks than boo. But too much of it breaks, so I'm heading back to boo, this time with plenty of back-bend to counteract the follow. What's been your experience in all this? And thanks for the inspiration.

how long can a bow like that be strung  before it  starts to wear out the limbs?

sneakypete, I really never had much problem with boo taking a set. Keep your boo thin 1/8" I make all mine 58 to 64 in. They seem to shoot fairly quick.

Buck.

That one looks just as nice as the other 2 you brought over to the shop the other day. Your glue lines look great. When are you going to start the next one, I might try to make it down to your place to take a look at it while you are working on it. Glenn
