Well gents...I did it! After all of the countless hours of practicing, learning how to build arrows and sharpen broadheads plus all of the time in the woods with blown chances and a few misses, it all came together this afternoon! This guy came in to a scent wick, stopped to make his own fresh scrape first and then stepped in front of my blind at about 12 yards. I remember drawing and anchoring even remember staring at the spot I was aiming at but I don't remember the release at all. The arrow penetrated almost to the fletching and he took off for about 40 yards or so, stopped in his tracks and expired. What an experience, truly blessed that I was given the opportunity to take such a beautiful animal from the ground with my recurve. Once I placed my hands on him, I thanked God and then thanked the buck for not just his life but for the life he's going to provide to my family. Thank you to all of the members or should I say MENTORS on this page, I would be lost if not for the wealth of information freely shared here [attachment=1,msg2938735][attachment=2,msg2938735]

Congratulations.

Traditional archery and bow hunting is addictive.
That feeling you got.
Every time is like the first.

Also, once you go trad you never go back. Nothings the same.
Rifles, muzzleloaders, compounds...nothing scratches that itch.

Kentucky Wolf-
I know what you mean, I've harvested many many deer with different weapons but this, this is different. It was much more personal, I had to park my rear in the seat for a few minutes to get my composure after the shot.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki
