Help with Dust Collection

So, I have a drum style dust collect were the motor basically sits on any type of barrel. I have used this is the past with the inlet connected to my bandsaw and a filter bag on the outlet. This cuts way down on the suction. Since I have built a new shop and am able to have all of my wood working tools in one area, I would like to connect it to everything. I have the piping ran to the tools, but my question is, if I run a pipe through my shop wall, how do I prevent most of the dust from being blow outside and not collected in the barrel? I know someone will say why do I care if the dust is blown outside? Well I just to not want all that dust on everything around the shop. Any help would be appreciated.

I use a barrel style also. Sounds like your filter bag is restricting the flow too much. I don't have any problem with a 15" planer or my drum sander. I'm been using this filter bag for about 15yrs now

How big is your exhaust port?

Not sure on the exhaust port size. I will have to check tomorrow.

The cloth bag needs to be dumped and turned inside out and shake (like a whip)the dust out of the weave.
sometimes it only has 6/8" of FINE dust in it, and it works much better after.
And I wash it in the washing machine every now and then.

I run mine through a barrel cyclone type cleaner with the exhaust going outside.  I previously used a one micron filter but it clogged pretty quick.  Much prefer this set up.

99.9% of the saw dust goes into the bucket.

Mark are you using the stock filter bag that came with the Grizzly unit?
I ask because I saw it's a 30 micron, which is not a lot of filtration, but would be fine for Ricky's requirements if it was being blown to the outside.

You would attach the collection hose from the tool to the inlet side of the dust deputy (sitting on a bucket or bin), then run a hose from the outlet of the DD to the intake side of the dust collector fan/impeller. Your dust collector motor/fan unit just takes the place of the shop vac in the video shown.

I made a cyclone for my 2hp Dust collector from a 30 gallon Galvanized trash can. I cut 2 holes in the lid for the 4 inch pipe elbows and fittings. I used 4 inch sewer pipes for the 4 drops with blast gates and a foam rubber seal for the trash can lid. Grounded all the pipes with copper ground wire and brass wire brackets and screws.   I guess 95-99% of the dust ends up in the Cyclone so the Bag filter never sees most of the dust. The cyclone sits on a concrete pad between shop and collector, The 2hp collector is in a plastic building outside of the shop so any fine dust particles that may pass thru the bag filter are contained in the little 4'x6' plastic shed.

dust from fiberglass and woodshops, is such a critical factor in our own personal health.
personally, i would buy the very best that money can buy. JMO!

Tell me about grounding the pipe, my hose has the wire in it, just ground that to the metal part of the blower.

But trust me, the dust deputy is the only way to go.

You will be amazed at how little dust ends up in your shop vac, if you use one.

Are those Dust Deputy's designed to be used with anything other than a shop vac and 5gallon bucket?, because Ricky has a 2 stage collector with the motor mounted on the barrel. I'm thinking that little cyclone unit will get overwhelmed by the volume of air pulled thru his impeller. Shop vacs are big on air velocity, not so much on air volume.
I was looking at add on cyclone's, seems there are 100's different of homemade units. If you are handy, you might save $100. and design/build something to fit your specific requirements.
