Anybody ever try guitar toner for staining Lam's? Looks like a good way to get a burst look without having to sand.

Not sure what you are referring to with "guitar toner", but if you are lucky Mark (mad max) will give some advice. He made a bow with a stunning sunburst finish on it. If I recall correctly he used dyes to get the look.

I will be gone all day---not sure what you asking.
Starburst---there are some youtubes on this
Aniline Dye water base is what I used on the veneers and riser. I had to mask off the sides of the veneers to dye the riser. The black stripes in the riser are phenolic

That looks fantastic Mark. I am talking about the rattle cans of stain marketed for guitar burst staining. The product is called guitar toner.

Buy two can of each color, cause you will need the practice to get a good finish with those cans. I don't know if Mark used an airbrush, but I think I would go that route, airbrush and dyes. Would be more likely to get a good finish. Rattle cans are tricky, if your looking for perfection.
