Do you move or adjust you nock's (if they are not glued on) after you finish fletching your arrows?

Terry Green

Yes, I have a few that you can adjust, but I really prefer larger nocks like bohnning classics.

If a nock wears out or gets cracked, it is easier to replace if it is press fit.  OTOH, press fit nocks tend to move out of place easier, so I have to glance down and see if I need to give it a twist to adjust it.  If a press fit nock breaks off at the insert, it is kind of a mess.  Most fletching tools have limited options for indexing, so it is convenient to be able to twist the nock into that perfect place, if you are picky about that kind of thing.  I've heard that some people who prefer glue-on nocks glue them on after fletching the arrow, as the glue on nocks evidently have enough friction to hold them in place while being fletched.  So each has its pros and cons.

I do as McDave suggested and fletch my arrows without gluing them but just pressure fit the nocks. You just have to watch that they don't move while fletching or your fletch orientation will get off. After fletching I add a drop or two of duco spin a full rotation and line it up where I want it. Denny

I glue mine in permanent after fletching and orientation.  But do have some that are uni-nocks, as well.  Enjoy being able to give a little twist for that "perfect" feather clearance.  But you can just "tack" the glue-on nocks if they tend to move on you.

Also have some adapters that fit in carbons to allow glue on nocks that I like.
