Attach handle, feathers, beads, and some fooferall and make a ceremonial American Indian rattle for your pre-hunt ceremony.

Ive often wondered if turtle shells could be used as limb tips or handle inlays on a riser?

For the hunt:

  • slate call
  • pouch/possibles bag
  • bottom of a tubular back/side quiver
  • make the hood for a bow quiver or GFA side quiver out of one of the larger ones
  • you could use them as inlay work for knife handles, limb tips on a custom bow, and POSSIBLY overlays at the limb bolts on a 3-piece bow
For the home:

  • add them to a pedestal mount to build the scene to include your him ;-)
  • native American styled rattle for decoration
  • make a bowl from one to put your keys/phone/wedding ring/etc in at night or have a woodworker build you a custom wood box and use the shell as the lid
  • incorporate it into a bookend to prop up all your Traditional Bowhunter Magazines or bowhunting books
  • sit it on the shelf with a photo of him to remind you of him
  • If you wind up cutting one up, save the small pieces and make little dangly earrings for your woman.  When ground thin they let the light show through with a beautiful marbled look and can be polished up nicely.  My wife is not a hunter by any means but has gotten lots of compliments from earrings that I've made her with animal ivories, bone, and even fishing lures over the years from folks.  It can be done in a classy and feminine way for sure.

I found this on another site and thought it was pretty slick...I'd share the link to the build-along..but I don't think that is allowed..
