I finished up 2 osage bow racks for my selfbows. I made a 1 piece rack for my glass bows.

The log was around 6"-8" diameter before I cut it in half. A smaller log would work fine.

When you hang your bows by the strings if the bottom string is off to the side will the limb twist from the weight of the bow.

I always make sure the string is centered on the bottom limb and not off to the side.
