So I'm getting the bug to start dabbling in bow building for a hobby.  Just curious to hear from those that have ordered this everything you need to get started kit and your experiences.  If you have any pics of your creation as well.

TwistedHollow

I'm curious in this as well. Looking forward to the responses!

I haven't,  but have heard great things here on TG!....And seen a few pics as well of finished products. Everything I have heard has been very positive.

Bingham's is a great place, always willing to help.  I have been buying from them since the 80's.  They have been in business since the 50's so, myst be doing something right.
Not familiar with the starter kit but would think it would be a great way to get started.  Using a tried and proven method on the first bow is a wise choice.

Starter kit is a perfect way to start.  It is how I did it.  You will have to decide on style and poundage ect. as the kit is variable.

Many bowyers got their start through Bingham's.
Follow their plans and you will end up with a bow close to your intended draw weight.  Get a couple Binham's kits under your belt, then you'll have more success experimenting with your own designs.

I built my first using one of their kits. Worked out well.

I love the fact that it comes with DVDs.....even a slow guy like me learns better that way......  :smileystooges:

very well worth it. looking forward to doing another they're very helpful

I have made three of the straight limb longbows and four take down longbows. Very nice people to deal with. Very rewarding as well. Good luck

I built my first recurve using their plans. Very straightforward and well explained. Just make sure that your form is just like theirs, otherwise you'll end up missing your draw weight.

A friend of mine made one and it turned out fantastic!  Shot great for me and seemed like a great design as it was quiet as a mouse.

This is on my bucket list for sure.  I think most would really enjoy making their own bow. It would really be a cool project.

I'm thinking of this also. Chad Holm who makes nice bows has a program. You go up and make a bow hands on with him,and you keep the bow. I think I'm going to try that when this all settles down.

I've been interested in that as well. Seems like an awesome experience - plus Chad is a super nice guy from my chats with him and makes a superb bow.

Yeah he nice to talk with. I only have four of his bows.

Sounds good with Chad.  Also have a Brigham recurve received in a trade deal that feels good, but have not shot it yet.  It is marked 62# @28".
