Thought I'd get an early start on my turkey hunting this year by flying to the Yucatan to chase ocellated turkeys with a stick and string. I will be hunting with Snook Inn Hunting near the city of Campeche on the western coast of the peninsula.

I have wanted to bow hunt these birds ever since I saw a presentation about them put on by the famous Missouri turkey caller, Leroy Braungardt, at the UBM Festival almost 20 years ago. If you ever heard Leroy speak then you know he was quite a showman and I was fired up and ready to catch a plane that day! However, life got in the way, so I had to wait until now to get 'er done.

Hopefully, I'll come home with more than just a story!

I travel to Mexico every few years, but have never hunted there.  I'll be interested in hearing about your experiences, particularly if you're bringing your own bow and if there are any tricks or things one should know about traveling around with it there.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Wow that is a pretty bird to chase.  Good hunting to you!
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Well, may the "force" be with you.  I wouldn't go to Mexico without a Marine Patrol escort.

It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

I have hunted with Snook Inn Hunting. I was unable to bowhunt because of a torn rotator but none the less was successful. It was a good hunt and my guide worked his tail off to get me a bird. And on top of it all the food was very good. Id like to go back for a bowhunt.
