Back pack meat hualer suggestions

On my last trip, airlines lost my back pack. I'm finally getting paid for it and so its time to look for another. It was an older Kelty pack that to me was great. It was a little on the heavy side but not bad at all. I packed a lot of meat with it.

Suggestions or recommendations would be great. Mainly it would serve as a meat pack.

I have an Outdoorsmans Optic hunter pack that I'm pretty fond of.  It is compact and stout and hauls enough for me to stay about a week in the back country. It also has a pod you can add to it for more gear. Or you can buy the long range hunter model if you need more space. Made in AMERICA!

I have a circa 1970 aluminum frame pack with detachable heavy duty pack.  Also has the  fold out shelf on the bottom.  Works great with or without the bag.  It's probably about two lbs.   Never weighed it.

Sometimes old school just keeps on working.

I've had a number of full size packs and I think I've found: the one.

It's made by Seek Outside. The Revolution Fortress.

Light - about 4 lbs.

Waterproof.

Large - with the added outside pouch that you can use as a daypack, almost 8,000c.i. total.

Comfortable. Last thing I hauled with it was a brown bear hide and skull this past fall. They are notoriously heavy, but it handled the load well.

Probably can get a moose quarter in the bag itself, but you could strap it to the outside or take the bag off and strap it to the frame.

The frame is very small, and it's hard to tell that's it not an internal frame pack.

An open pouch, low on both sides of the main bag, for water bottles, spotting scope...

It's light enough and comfortable enough that I use it for everything.

And like Monterey, I've also still got an old Camp Trails freighter frame. The moose bag is long since worn out, and I had to replace the waist belt. But it's light and cheap and still gets the job done.

I know nothing about them but have saw freighter type packs at Cabela's.

Still using my older Kelty external frame and also a Cabelas freighter.  Prices of the "hot new packs" scares me, as I use mine a couple times a year if lucky.

I use a Seek Outside Peregrine 3500. Great for day pack and can do 5-7 days with my Merlin attached to the front. Most comfortable and best quality pack I've used.

I have a BullPac frame with the cargo bag that I am pleased with. I bought it for a Caribou hunt in '03 but didn't haul any meat on it. Both bulls died right on the river bank so we just took them down and loaded them straight into the boat. I have used it hauling up to 80# of bagged seed, lime and mineral ect for over mile and it works very well. Getting the harness adjusted properly under a load is very important for comfortable carry.

Camp Trails Moose Pack
I own 5 of these. When I get a moose or elk on the ground, call friends and put one of these on them. We have comfortably hauled tons of meat, literally.

I have hauled a bunch of meat as well on cheaper frames including garage sale frames.

Never again.   A couple miles and the straps wanna cut your arms off.

Right now I am rocking the kuiu with fiber frame.   I wanted a meat hauler AND a real pack for serious backpacking.   Love it.  Cool meat hauling concept too that essentially "straps" the meat on without straps.  Youtube it...

I can also convert the size of pack I want on the frame for different adventures.

Pricey but they have sales on the packs often...and it is worth it.

Go to the Kifaru Insiders FB page and pick up a used Kifaru that will fit your needs.  I've hauled elk, deer, bear and moose most of my adult life.  Got a Kifaru pack 10 years ago and couldn't believe the difference.

Lots of options depending on your situation. I have an aluminum frame meat hauler from slumberjack and I have an exo mountain pack that is great as a back pack and hauls meat comfortably but pricey. I would never buy anything from kifaru after Mr. Snyder, who was supposed to be our banquet speaker last year, bailed on us 3 days before the event and never offered an explanation or apology.

I vote for Kifaru.  Best there is IMO.

I'm a big fan of my Stone Glacier packs. Never tried the Kofaru but heard good things.

I'll never have to buy another one so I'm set
