I need the king of swivel seats

I'm looking for a swivel seat for next fall.  Quality is a must, pricepoint isn't a priority.

What I need from it is:

  • QUIET action - not the rattling, gravelly sound of a 5-gallon bucket lid with swivel
  • Well built
  • Preferably low sitting - Maybe something like half the height of a lawn chair would be about right.  That would allow for me to bend my knees and swivel around a bit but not have me sitting too high to utilize blowdowns and what not for cover
  • preferably 3-legged - I hunt hill country, flatlands, and swamps.  4 legs make you rock and be unstable on uneven ground.  If the legs are adjustable like telescopic trekking poles, all the better.
  • portable enough that I can pack it in and out with relative ease

Millenium G100

Just looked it up and I'll be danged if that isn't pretty much exactly what I had in mind!   I knew someone on here would be smarter than me and know where to look.  This will be a great addition to my Lone Wolf stand for mobile hunting.  :clapper:

Can't go no better. I've had one for four years and it's comfortable and rock solid.

Mine too,  but put some mineral oils around the legs and swivel and it fixed it right up.  Just accumulation of grit did it.

GDPolk,

I have been after the same thing for awhile myself. I started trying different chairs / stools and have even made a few. So far this is what I have come up with.
- Ball Bearing Swivel that you can lock I ended up with a different bearing that is better set up for design.

- Independent 4 leg adjustment
- Sits super low to the ground but can be adjusted up to lawn chair height

This is on my Wyoming Mule Deer hunt at camp reading Jeremiah Johnson and enjoying some jet boil  :coffee:.
This days go by to fast. ..

On the first one I found the feet needed to be bigger to not sink in the ground and the chassis needed to be lighter. I also need to improve the seat fabric to make it tighter.

Here is the second chassis design, yet to be made.

Looking good, Chad.  Can't wait to see your final revision.

I just bought a Millenium M300 "Tree Seat" and I love it.  You just need a tree big enough to support your weight and takes about 30 seconds to set-up.  Only weighs about 3 pounds and allows you the ability to run and gun.

BTW...I bought mine from Academy Sports for $69.00.

Here are a couple I have been looking at but I don't know anything about them yet. The USA made chair looks nice and has a good price.

I have been using chairs like the one in this photo for years and worn several out. I admit they are not the most comfortable but they are light. I put straps on them and carry them like a backpack. I carry a few items in the zipper pouch. They work well with my Ghillie Suit. They can even be used as a pack frame in a pinch.

The Millennium chair looks great but isn't it a little large and heavy? I have never had one in hand and would like to hear more from users of this chair.

I have all kinds of stools and small chairs but have never found "the one". I have pretty nice chairs for my more permanent blind set-ups. I use the standard directors chairs that are found pretty easy. They are sturdy and quiet. I am unsure about the need for a swivel. I can be pretty quiet and just pivot my backside in the seat to make a shot. Having a swivel just adds more complexity and potential for noise and problems, but I have never had a chair with a swivel so I don't really have any experience to work from.

I'd go with the Millennium.  The store I work at sells them and they are ROCK SOLID.  A little pricey but worth it for the serious ground hunter.  Great chair.

Dave-

I have the non-swivel version of that chair and it works pretty good. The triangle seats starts to wear on my hip joints after 3 or 4 hours and I have to fidget from one butt-cheek to the other every once in a while.

I have two of them in blinds right now.

How does the swivel work? Is it a ball-bearing situation or a post and cap type of deal?

Chad,
I remember a few years back you and I were discussing a swivel chair and designs through a few pm' s back and fourth and how you were in the process of trying to figure out how to keep it light.
I finally get to see what you got and looks very solid .
Now is the chair adjustable in height and what are the gear looking things on each side. Is that for tilting it somehow?
Looks like you been busy like a "Chemist" in a basement and glad you are bringing this swivel seat to life.

Take a look at the seat from redneck blinds.  Its a good one low quiet and adjustable.  Spent many all day sits on one..
