Good summer project

Been using tennis balls as my target for years, and really enjoy bouncing them around the paddock with blunts too. Great practice target. But lately I've been wanting to up the anti a bit. Picking the center of a tennis ball is really not that hard, but what about picking a single spot on a blank target, like a single colour animal?

I got this idea from one of Bisch's posts (I think) a while back, and so I made up a pig silhouette out of old election poster core board, and sprayed it matt black.

Pretty ordinary looking pig I know, but my art proportions will get better as I do more. I set it up at about 18-20 yards and had one shot from my old 75lb longbow.

Pretty happy with that shot.

Planned on having quite a few more from different ranges too, but my darling wife called out that dinner was being dished up, so that stopped play for the evening.

Like the silhouette idea, I've got plenty of material, so now I'll make up some deer, buffalo, rabbit and who knows what ever else targets that take my fancy. I'll just put them in front of a feed bag jammed full of pallet wrap, which stops a heavy (850 grain +) woody from my longbow with ease.

Got a nice little 4 acre rough bush covered hill/knob on my place, so I might make up a bit of a 2D course to play on.

Like I said, "Good summer project".

Best

Good hunting to you all.
May the wind be your friend, and may your arrows fly true,
Most of all, may the appreciation and the gratitude of what we do keep us humble......

That's a better use of the corflute than the original  :biglaugh:  :biglaugh:  :biglaugh:

I used to use that style of butt too, but have since switched to cardboard stacks. Much easier to move around and get rid of rather than some UV degraded rubbish that no-one really wants (cardboard works well as mulch or into the compost pile).

I use wine boxes strapped with proper strapping tape (got both at work) or strapped down with a couple of cheapo ratchet straps. The ratchet straps are good cos you can undo it all and get a stuck broadhead out.

Might have to make up a few silhouettes next election day
