My son Drake is 13 years old...and eats, sleeps, and breathes hunting and traditional archery. He could have bowhunted with me a couple years ago with a compound...but he wanted to kill his first deer with his longbow. So he waited until he could shoot well enough and pull a little more weight before taking to the tree. He shot all summer and was ready as ever come Sept 1....opening day of Kentucky's bow season.

Opening day all his patience and practice paid off. He was able to shoot his first deer with a bow...and it meant the world to him he was able to do it with his longbow. He is shooting a 58" 44@28 Zipper Zipstick by the way...33# at his 23" draw length.

Flash foward a month later...and he did it a second time. Was able to put his second tag on a big ol doe.

Proud papa here...just wanted to brag on my boy a little.

Congrats to Drake and proud Papa :goldtooth: he already accomplished a lot at a very young age. And if my gut is right I would dare to guess Drake has overcomed a lot of other challenges as well  :clapper:

It took me 13 years to get my first deer.  So, what, your son likes to make folks like me feel even more inferior?  Actually, outstanding and I am happy for him.

Tell Drake congratulations on two fine deer and that he Did Good.....Really, Really Good?
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
