Is there a way to stop vented 3 blade heads from hissing? I gotta believe if I can hear them hissing from where I'm shooting, deer can hear them bearing down on them like a howitzer

I've heard you can relieve the trailing edge of the vent with a file to eliminate the whistling. I haven't tried it myself.

Snuffers hiss, and I have killed a whole lot of stuff with them from deer to pigs to bear, elk, caribou and moose. It's been my experience that they freeze from the sound unlike bolting from sight of a threat. Just shoot them.

So far this year I've taken a bear, a deer and one unlucky red squirrel with a WW elite (vented). I can't tell you how many animals I've taken in the past with vented heads. Besides dying, nothing ever complained or reacted any differently than with a non vented head. Embrace the hiss of death.  ...

As others have mentioned, I've heard that filing the sharp corners off the inside of the vents will stop the hissing, or greatly diminish it. I've not tried this myself, though.

Many guys have said they have been killing game with them just the way they are and I have heard the hiss too. I would not try to modify any broadheads though. Shoot them the way they are or get different heads. It's called "The hiss of death" not "The hiss of alertness". And for good reason. :archer2:

I hate the hiss.
I know MANY MANY deer and other animals have been killed with a hissing broadhead and really there isn't anything wrong with them.
I've tried filing the vents, using vaseline, tape.....nothing worked.
I just don't like it..
...So I shoot non-vented heads...problem solved....lol

If they are mounted correctly they should not hiss....

To make it real easy just down below Vaseline on the edges... the rear edges.... that should solve your problem

I used packaging tape on my Snuffers, it eliminates the hissing completely.

I'm thinking you have a nonexistent problem.

Hissing vented three blades are horrible!
I am willing to rid the market of them.  The worst are the 125 screw-in Snuffers.  Well, any of the Snuffers.
