I shot my 2nd doe of the year yesterday afternoon. I decided to hunt a tripod on a road we had been corning out. I was not in the stand 10 minutes when a nice doe came ambling down the road from my left to right. She worked her way past me, and got "right" at about 14-15yds. I hit anchor, released the arrow, and it all happened so fast, I had no clue where the arrow had hit her. I saw a large gush of blood as she spun and ran off, so I figured it must have been pretty good.

I got out of the stand, and went to get my tracking dog in training Zeke. We got back to the stand, and I got him all ready in his tracking harness. I told him to "find the deer" and put him on the arrow laying on the ground at the spot where I shot her. The blood trail was phenomenal!!! I didn't need Zeke for this one, but in about 30 seconds, he covered the 54 paces to where she lay dead.

Entrance (I missed left of where I was aiming, but kept it in the deadly "V"):

Exit, just over the opposite arm pit:

This is the 3rd critter with my brand new Primal Tech takedown longbow that I got right at one month ago. 50#@29". Arrow was a full length, .400 spine Widowmaker Smash. Broadhead was a 150gr German Kinetic Silverflame XL.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Good shooting. Looks like you used an ax for a broadhead.   :o
