I know it was the go to finish for pros, for a long time. Wondering who has used it in the past and what everybody's go to is now.
I still use conversion varnish, aka; Fullerplast.

I forgot to mention the CV I am using now is Mowhawk Ultra Clear 550. I used to use Hood Finishing CV, which was one of the best products I have ever used. 24hr pot life, could be re-catalyzed after the pot life expired, had a separate flattening agent to customize sheen. I could go on and on...

I used Fullerplast with success and satisfaction for years, then switched to Thunderbird and like it even better. It looks better and is even tougher.

I used Fullerplast for a no. of years, it was a poor finish for bows it would chip off leaving exposed wood on the edge of the limbs and sometimes you could scape it off with you finger nail . I think it was very fussy about temps during application . I would never use it again there are other much better finishes on the market .

CV is definitely not tolerant of application outside of recommended parameters. That said I have a Bow with 40 yr old Fullerplast and many 10+ yr old Bow's that look pretty good. Tim, your issue sounds like operator error.

I made several hundred hundred bows and finished with fuller plast I knew how to use it that's why I quit it wasn't durable . I seen other bowyers bows that had chips and open spots from FP. Thunder bird is far more durable so are some urethanes. Finish is very important on a bow not only in appearance but in moisture protection I got a beautiful finish with FP but it wasn't durable for a hunting bow.

Sorry, I should not have made that assumption. I agree with you that epoxy is going to be more durable than conversion varnish. I'm just put off by the finishing schedule.
