It's always good to get that first one under your belt. 7 point, with my Shrew Li'l Favorite. I'm grateful for the cooler weather, my Asbell pullover and hat kept me cozy  :bigsmyl:

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Great job roger! Were you on the ground?

No, I was in one of my favorite stands, we call it the "cut pine stand" because my son climbed up a pine next to it and cut the top off a few years ago so we could see to the next ridge.

I was a little concerned at the shot, it was high on his left side, but it did have the right angle....down and forward. Super thick area, so I only saw him a split second after the shot.

One of my flaws is a weakness for getting on the trail too early....I have to force myself to stay put for awhile. 45 minutes is always my target.

In this case, he crashed through some thick stuff, paused, and then I heard a ton of crashing and thrashing. I figured he was down but I stayed put. Then I heard a red squirrel raising heck right at that spot....I figured that was a good sign.

After 30 minutes I climbed down and slowly worked that way....he was dead just out of sight, he didn't go 25 yards. The Ace broadhead had been driven down into his chest....his travel and thrashing had caused the broadhead to lacerate both lungs, his arteries at his heart, everything. He must have been dead in 15 seconds, tops.

Congrats Roger, nice buck!!!
Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.
