Bow Stringer PSA

Just a friendly reminder check all your equipment.

Today while trying to unstring my bow, the factory tied knot on my stringer came untied. I've used it 10 years no issues till now. I'm always so careful to watch what I am doing but never looked at the stringer itself really.

The string violently popped off the bow and some things went flying. I will string up the bow but initial inspection, looks ok.

Great reminder to check all equiptment but this one has me stumped. I have a few stringers and can't pull the knots apart if a try they're cinched so tight. Can't imagine they'd just "fall open". This one has me stumped as I can't see it happening. I know some guys are thin skinned so I'll qualify this saying I'm calling no one a liar here I'm just amazed

Some years back I had the same thing happen to me with a BW stringer, also had on where the leather came apart on the small end. Those were used on heavy weight bows, 65-80#. I kind of solved the problem two ways: only unstring bow for storage over a long period, changing limbs. Also bought one Stringer for each bow, that's so I don't wear them out to fast.

Thanks for the offer ken, I retied the knot. Should be good to go.

As to previous comments, I assumed the same. But the string must have slowly worked through. . I just wanted to call it out so people can learn and check the equipment.

Not pointing blame but I assume the issue was the tag end of the knot was cut too close. Figured if anyone out there was like me, they'd be extra careful while stringing the bow but completely overlook the equipment used to do so, especially after using it for so long without issue.
