my set up is 47# Great Northern ghost 27" draw with total arrow weight is 470 gr. Is this sufficient for deer?
Wanna be for now.

The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Vabowman

Ok, good. I just see so many shooting much heavier arrows..550 gr and up..
Wanna be for now.

10 grains per lb. will work just fine.
I'm shooting 49# @ 27" with a 600 grain arrow. IMO heavier is better but that can be taken to extremes.

Yes....Deer are nothing more than a paper bag full of shaving cream, a few tinker toys and a ball joint....just stay away from the ball joint.

Don't worry about your set up. It's good to go.

Absolutely--- i shoot much less weight and have no trouble getting two holes.

GCook

As long as they are well tuned with the bow and your shooting style yes.

It will do the job quite well.  Just make sure your broadheads are sharp. Which goes for any setup. As for weight I use light arrows in the 450-550 grains depending on the bow.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

i don't know. West of Inwood Ia may be the state record typical.  Pretty sure that I have a bow and arrows that can handle the big boy, not so sure that any one else does.

Don't know your full specs, however I would suspect that your setup should be quite lethal.

I already posted on another thread about his 47@27 being more than enough,  but that monster buck has got people going, they will probably drive him off of his current pattern.  It would be a good time to ban cameras and tree stands on Iowa public land and let us ground warmers get the job done.  If i name that buck I will write it on a special arrow, providing there is any place left to park over there come deer season.
