Archery, fly fishing or women?
Lately I'm think archery myself. Once I figured out my wife...to a degree, never totally tuned but things stay pretty smooth.
Once I figured out which fly rod and line worked best together no more fiddling around just go fishing.
Archery on the other hand....

But I love them all.

Don't know anything about fly fishing, but I suppose if wives and archery were simple, we would get bored and have to go play golf.

If it's just women in general, that's my vote. I'm pretty well on the same wavelength with the wife.

I have enough trouble with regular spin fishing let alone fly fishing!  What lure will work what day even when targeting 3 species is uncertain. I find archery a bit more predictable than wifey though.

Fly fishing and archery are a piece of cake, a woman,  now that's something I will never figure out. As far a golf, maybe when I get old......

The very first thing I thought of before even opening this thread was women. There's actually no contest they're so far ahead here. You help a man, he's a friend for life. Women, you could save their life yet do something trivial an hour later and she hates ya. I tried unsuccessfully to find a girl from a deaf mute college. Couldn't find a college like that but figured the girl I date, being she doesn't speak good English was the next best thing but I wonder sometimes.

Ahhh....grasshoppa (with apologies for those too young to remember Master Po on Kung Fu).  Your answer is simple and right in front of your nose.  Fly fishing is for those with full bellies, while archery and women are identical pursuits.  You're better off spending a lifetime learning how the bow (or woman) you're blessed with prefers to be held rather than wasting your time searching for the "perfect" one....43 years with the original wife, so even a blind hog can pick up an acorn now and then!

Hmmm wonder why you think fly fishing is for fellas w full bellies? I would never feel slightly handicapped when using a fly. It's all about when how things are used.
Years back as a kid a buddy n I were fishing. We went around the lake on foot to a cove and saw a bass in the shallows. We left the bait 1/4 mile back. I put a rotted leaf of the hook, cast and once the bass approached imparted action. I took that fish.
Years back I took an old gf kids bluegill fishing. They ran low on bait and I told em use grass in a joking fashion but I put a blade on a hook, cast n twitched it in and caught numerous bluegills.
One time maybe 20 years ago a friend n I fished a Boy Scout camp. At the head of the riff come dusk caddis started to draw the fish to the surface. As they oviposited they'd Hoover over the diff to dip their backsides in than back up.
Anyway the fish started to key in on this as they often do. I sat quietly til fish came near. Dimpled my caddis imatation into the riff and hovered it just a bit. I caught numerous fish in the air that way after my buddy said it couldn't be done. Wish he was on here to verify this. But point is flyfishing, leaf fishing, grass fishing might have some limitations but you know what they are and how to take advantage. I'd never feel insecure w any rod or bow in my hand. Women make you very unsure.

No offense intended to those that prefer to fool the fish.  It's just that my old fishing buddy (God rest his soul, I still miss him) proved that you can't out-fish a hungry redneck and our stringers proved it time and again.  We had no qualms about offering the fish what they wanted and it usually was alive.  I'll admit as live bait fishermen we were outcasts even among non-fly fishermen.  Only "heretics and blasphemers" would stoop to eat a bass, but I'll put a river smallie right up their with trout in fight and taste.  Kidding aside, the main reason I didn't stay with the flyrod is that all the N.C. trout streams I fished were too small and tight for anything but roll casting.  New River smallmouths were fun but I caught exponentially more on live minnows.

I agree with your sentiments, Olddog. When I'm tired after a day of backpacking through the Sierras and setting up camp by a lake, what I want is a fish dinner ASAP, not to tease the fish. The most dependable way I've found to do that is with a spinning rod and a spoon or Mepps #2, live bait not being readily available up there. If it were, though, I'd use it.

I love my wife. She drives me nuts at times but just like archery, when things aren't right, it's usually me.
