Full moon stalking...

 Big full moon is great for stalking hogs so that's what I did. Last week it wasn't quite full but bright enough to see em good. Was at my friends place and was able to get a good shot on a little one down along the river. Here a few months ago I started shooting 3-under and really working on my shot and I'm getting close to where I want to be in my shooting. I know I'm a better shot now with my new shooting form and I will strive to get better....

 Was a good eating little sow we cooked her up whole on the pit at the fire station. Also had found that broken point while out hunting the day before I got her. So now a week later we had a work weekend at one of the places I hunt on and after 2 days of busting butt moving stands and fence work at our camp
( in 100 degrees temps ) everyone left me and headed for home. I figured I would stay one more day and hunt some hogs in the light of the full moon. I got cleaned up and waited until the sun went down and snuck up to a cedar covered hill and it didn't take long and I could hear hogs. Saw a big group while it was still light out but never got a shot on em. About an hour later I could hear a hog in a pond splashing around and flopping it's ears. I got in a good spot on a trail that leads out of the pond and down hill ( was a north wind , go figure and 100 degrees ) but everything fell into place as he walked by me at 12yds. I hit him about the last rib quartered away with a Tuff Head on a fir arrow. The moon was bright enough I could see the big banana feathers in flight. He tore out of there breaking brush and kicking up rocks , I listened for what direction he ran the best I could....

 I waited for a while then just slowly crept in the direction I last heard  him , about 75yds into this I heard some brush breaking so I just marked the spot and backed out. Back to camp I went for some food and a cold drink to pass some time. Now back at the spot I marked with my flashlight this time I walked to where I had heard the noise before and there he was stone dead with the arrow still in him but broken. Before I got anything done I could hear some more hogs back towards the pond. I have a quiver full of broadheads so might as well go at least try. This time several hogs appear out of the cedars and after 30 minutes of cat and mouse I sent an arrow into a spotted hog. The shot was also a quartering away shot but I was not sure of the hit , it felt good but the hog made no sound at the shot and just kinda ran off in no big hurry...

 I hung some flag tape where I shot from and sat down for 30min or so then tried to find some blood but had no luck. Best bet for this one is to come back after daybreak and look as not to push it if I did make a bad shot. Went back and took care of the first hog and got back to camp and cleaned myself up as well. Got a few hours of sleep and was back up the hill a little after sunrise. Turns out I did hit him pretty good but had no exit hole and very little blood on the ground but found him in short order. Was a fun night of stalking around under the full moon...

Very cool, or should I say HOT!  Thanks for sharing. September seems so far away. A night hunt here in Florida would likely be a blood drainer with the skeeters.

Had a few questions on the bows..

The recurve I shot the little pig with is a old Hoyt TD3 riser that I got ILF plates for and it has a set of cheap limbs on it..
62in-42@30 , 500 spine carbon arrow with 250gr up front , total arrow weight is 525 grains , broadhead was a Grizzly..

Longbow I shot the 2 boars with is a Galaxy BlackRidge 62in-51@30 , arrows were Fir that I made up , total arrow weight 680 grains , broadhead was a
Tuff Head..
