Just today I mentioned to my wife that I hadn't seen a fox or coyote all this year on my trail camera.
I just checked the SD card today and was showing her that we have lots of rabbits showing up.
And as I no sooner said again " must be the yotes and fox's are gone " I found this picture. :dunno:

I don't think this is a bunny rabbit.

The cycle of nature continues.  Lots of bunnies, squirrels and chipmunks means the predator numbers are down.  In a few years because of the plentiful prey numbers the predator numbers will steadily increase and the bunny numbers will decrease.  And on and on it goes . . .

Foxes are very pretty and graceful, but they can sure put a dent in the small animal population.

Our "suburban" yotes seem to be keeping to the golf courses these days. Last year we would see them traveling in groups. This year it's one or two at most.

Many missing dog and cat posters that mean the suburban yotes are active.

Had a similar situation this spring. Last fall I found a decent deer spot and was all excited because all season I never saw any predator tracks. Told one of my buddies about it and the other day when I went it there I found three big sets of wolf tracks. I guess I jinxed it.

I have a fox den on a hill side about 300 yards from my house.  I spotted it about a week ago. I have a spotting scope set up so I can watch them right through a sliding patio door.  So far I have counted 7 pups at one time and I don't think there are any more than that.  It's hard to count them when they are out because they are running around chasing each other, tumbling and rolling just like any other pups would do.  They sure are cute.  I don't have a camera capable of taking pictures that far and I don't want to risk disturbing them by setting up a trail camera.
If I'd known that I would live this long I'd have taken better care of myself.

I have been able to take some pictures through a spotting scope by holding my cell phone up to the eye piece.  Not the greatest pictures, but not bad.  Probably depends on quality of glass in scope.   Might give it a try.

Lots of fox and yotes around my place.

Had a Big black yote here a few years ago, neighbor finally trapped him out.

I have tried the spotting scope/camera trick but the pictures don't turn out.  I keep telling the wife that I need a bigger better scope but I don't see one coming my way anytime soon.
