Im calculating my stack thickness using .030 Gordons glass & I have heard different theory's using the .030 vs .040 etc ,so Im adding about .010 over the same stack thickness if I was using .040 glass to companstate for the more limber limbs ,for you guys that used .030 glass in a stack does that sound right ?

Ok thanks Mike , Kenny thought the same thing , Im trying to use up left over material , and mixing and matching to get a bow !

I am experimenting with my first recurve TD limbs for a 60" bow and my first set came out too heavy to even string. I used 0.04 glass with a total stack of around .240 (I think).  Generically, to safely get a limb between say 45 and 30# would you use 0.03 glass?  I just want to be able to string and test it!  :knothead:  Any rough stack ideas, thinking parallel lams as a start.

You might want to ask Kennym he is pretty darn close on stack guessing, I have used .030 back glass with .040 belly glass on a couple sub 50lb bows with no issues !

With identical stacks using .030" on the back .040" on the belly.  Same stack with .040 back and belly gain about seven pounds.  Hope that made sense.

I say .030 is what you need ! I made plenty T/D's with .030 glass !
for the stack? .200 to .240-----------.225 will be exactly 40# give or take 10# :bigsmyl:--- :dunno:

BJansen Stack Calculator said
For a stack of .240= 60# let's say
For a 40# bow the stack would be .210
Hope it gets you there

Don't see what the weight of this one was but usually I think recurved run .001to .0015 per lb

Ya kinda need to get the weight on that one figured out...

Send it to Roy and have him string it for ya!! :)
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Thanks guys. I need to pick a stack and go for it. The set I built scares the crap out of me when I try to string it!  Longbows are safer  :o
