I finally scored on a nice one here in South GA and wanted to share it with you all. It's been a rough but fun deer season, I missed a nice buck early then missed 2 does on my trip to MS.  I did kill a spike here the day after Christmas which was a huge confidence boost.

I was a little late getting to my stand due to helping my brother get to his spot so it was cracking daylight.  After pulling up my bow I was getting settled in and doing the normal routine of putting on gloves, face mask and arm guard when I heard footsteps behind me.  At this point I was still facing the tree so I eased my head around to look over my shoulder and he was right there but looking down the food plot in the other direction.  I grabbed my bow off the hook, got turned around, drew to anchor, picked a spot and made a good shot.  The buck was 12 yards quartering away.

Sometimes it's nice when it happens fast, you just do what comes natural. Nice buck congrats!

Nice buck! What stage of the rut are they in there? Or is it over?

Congrats on a fine buck! Late season kill must be satisfying... I'll be out next week for the first three-day January hunt we've ever had in WV (to my knowledge).

Thanks everyone!  Tedd our rut begins around the beginning of December and we have a 2nd rut that occurs approximately 30 days later.  The 2nd rut are those does that did not get bred the first time around or young does that come in late. So this weekend we saw alot of activity and on our lease there was a real nice buck killed Saturday afternoon.  I really wish GA would start our season later like many other southern states.  Start 10/1 with archery and go to 1/31, we still have a lot of activity going on and do not get any cold weather to speak of until December/January.

Bloodtrailin, I am shooting a full length Easton Axis Traditional 500.  They fly really well with a 150 grain point out of a 46# @ 28 Thunderchild.  My broadheads are the 150 grain cutthroats.
