I got into traditional archery in 2011 and through some hard work/practice became a fairly decent shot. I worked hard on my anchor, using back tension (creating the triangle). I shot 3 fingers under with both my recurves and Long bows. All 50-55# @ 28" and a 600 (ish) grain arrow (total weight). I started off as a gap shooter and kind of morphed into a gap/instinctive style shooter over time. Well In 2013 my wife ran out on me and thousands of dollars of lawyer debt forced me into unloading my bows amongst other things. Now I am back. I have an old Bear I got for pennies that'll be in the mail this week just to get me started as I look for another bow. Anyway having taken a several year break from traditional shooting I hope to be able (with practice) to pick up where I left off. in time of course. Do any of you pros have any advice, suggestions, etc for me before I start flinging arrows later this week? When I got into this years ago I picked up on some bad habits right from the start I had to break and I really want to avoid that mess if I can. Any and all comments, suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry you had to go through that. I had a layoff of archery due to a most severe case of target panic that I just could not control. Anyway, after several years of wanting badly to shoot but simply unable, I found that it was a good opportunity to start fresh and correct some of the bad habits I had developed from shooting very heavy bows. So, I would follow the old adage of not over bowing yourself. Also, I found it helpful to focus on shooting each arrow correctly instead of shooting arrows. I find it is much better for me to shoot 5 correct arrows than 50 arrows that don't have my full focus and effort. I bet you will find it much like riding a bike and your pre-programed brain will quickly have you back where you left off.
Also, I don't miss the heavy bows one bit! I still shoot through the same critters I did with 30# more bow weight than I shoot now and they fall over just as fast.
Get bamboo.
