So I have done a bit of research on veneer sources and in doing so I watched a couple of videos on how they are cut. I have decided that I will be buying my veneers  from these places since, with their method, there is virtually no waste of the tree. If you watch the web sites they typically give dimensions of the lot that you buy, as well as actual photos, and how many sheets are in them, so this way you can order pretty close to the length and width you want. Most of what I have seen are about .025" in thickness.

My question is, does anyone else order veneer sheets this way and have any suggestions on who is good to work with?

I don't use a ton of veneers, mostly black or brown glass.  I have used the sheet veneers without issue.  I carefully cut to width with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.  Bought some off the big auction site but, most from B&B Rarewoods.

One of these days I'm going to buy some black and white ebony veneers from Big Jim.

I put some in my hunting bow, from veneersupplies, also bought the little saw to cut them with. No probs after a year and a half.  Didn't sand them just blew off and glued up.

I get them from B&B Rare Woods also.  Plus for me is they're only a few miles from my house.  They are not really set up as a retail outlet so it's not like you can go in there and shop.  I purchase from the website and pick them up to save postage.

Their stuff is accurately represented on the web.

I bought enough Tamo Ash to build a longbow from a sponsor for $76 delivered. Later found enough for two bows on E*** for $16.

Sauers is great, call and talk to them, they have in the past specially selected veneers just for bowyers.

What's the downside?  Limbs dont match? 101"x7.5"x.025 that's a ton of pretty wood for 26.76$  loruro preto(never heard of it but it looks good)

Symmetry is pretty cool but how many people actually notice the book matching on a bow anyway? Right?
