I picked up this used 45# Bear Montana last night, couldn't be happier with it. Got a great deal on it too. Just ordered a arrow test kit to find the proper spine. I'm super excited for this adventure. I'm also in the market for a leather arm guard, all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks again to all those who take their time to share their knowledge, great site!

Have fun and the Montana has a good reputation. Lots of game harvested with them. Keep us posted on how it works out for you. Longbows can be very addicting so, don't be surprised if a custom is in your future! :biglaugh:

Congratulations on your longbow purchase.  I got my first longbow several months ago and really enjoy shooting it but still have a preference to my recurves.  I do feel comfortable enough to hunt with it this year but it is still hard to think about not hunting with a recurve.  Have fun sir!

thanks for the posts everyone, I'm really liking it thus far. I'm fairly certain a custom will be in the future!

Just shoot it, don't over complicate longbow shooting. If you like the Montana, you are going absolutely love your new Robertson Purist.   Just kidding, but longbows are like potato chips, you cannot have just one.

Congrats!!! Those are great bows. As far as arm guards, I suggest looking at RMSGear's selection. They are great leather arm guards and way under priced IMO.

Oh how I love mine. It's slow but so accurate and forgiving.
