Just got home from an awesome week of bear hunting in northern Saskatchewan with Kolby Morrison and Bear Pro Safaris.  Shared camp with a great bunch of guys and made some new friends. The area we were hunting was near Reindeer lake, about an 8 hour drive north from Saskatoon. About the last half of that drive is on dirt road.

Kolby's baits are accessed by boat and are set up with brush blinds. Really no trees up there big enough for a tree stand. It's really cool to be on the ground with bears that close. The evening I shot my bear I'd had 5 different bears come in starting at about 4:30 that afternoon. All within 10-12 yards. I was waiting for one of the big boars that roam this remote area.

At about 10:30, just before it gets dark at around 11, what I thought was a big boar came in.  When it turned broadside at around 12 yards I picked my spot and made the shot. The bear made what sounded like a short run with a crash at the end. Arrow passed through and was stuck in the ground. Came back the next morning and recovered my bear at the end of about a 50 yard trail. I was surprised to find out it was actually a bear I had passed on earlier in the evening. A big dry sow rather than the big boar I thought I shot. The pic make her look bigger than she actually was but like I said I couldn't be more happy with my bear.
I was shooting my 56" TimberGhost g3ss TD, 53#@28" and a GT 340 with 250 grain VPA.

Sweet.  Nice shot and perfect harvest.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Thanks a lot everybody. It was an awesome trip that I hope to make again next year with most of the same group. Kolby will be hunting a brand new area next year. He usually changes areas after 2-3 seasons. Should be great hunting a new area for the first time.

Fine bear.  Congrats... Sounds like a great trip! Thanks
