Anyone have or tried the newer fletch tape dispenser?

Thinking about buying one.

Interested as well. I did read a negative comment on another site but one comment doesn't mean it's not OK.

I read negative comments about the older model but this one looks a lot better.

There is a video on 3rivers about it.

Never tried one, but it looks like it might cause some frustration. I'm open to hearing folks' experience with it if you use one.

This looks like a product attempting to solve problems I don't have and possibly introduces new ones.  I've been wrong with similar reactions in the past, so I'd be eager to hear if others find that this is an improvement over just a roll of tape with scissors or a box cutter.

I use the tape.  I tried the dispenser.  For me, it was slower and a waste of money. Somebody might like it, just not me.

Not needed, develop a method that works for you. The less moving parts, the better.

I just use an old blade from my double edge razor. Once they are too dull to shave my head they go to my archery box. I've looked at the dispensers a few times but ive never seen the need to go that route. Tape is already much faster than glue, i dont feel the need personally to try to speed the process up anymore.

For me it's always a pain in the butt getting the tape backing to lift off the tape.

I leave a slightly larger front end of tape and stick it to the jig clamp. Then use a fingernail and scrape across not along - works for me!

After I have applied the strip of tape to the clamped feather and cut it to length, I take an exacto knife and using the backside unsharpened edge of the blade about 1/8" from the end of the feather and put slight downward pressure onto the taped quill with the back of the blade and slide it down towards the other end of the feather and the tape backing will stand up and lifts right off. It doesn't have to be a knife blade, I have also used the back of a scissor blade, any square but unsharpened edge. It only takes a second to remove it with no picking or poking at it.

Thanks David, I'll have to try that.
