A young friend of mine and myself worked up a trade last winter. He made this throwing/camp hawk at his forge for me. He delivered it to me at the Tenn Classic and while there he carved and fitted the maple handle. Today I decided to dress it up a bit. I used brass tacks to make the starbursts on the side of the handle then added finger grooves along the handle. I used medium brown leather dye then a good hand rubbing of turpentine then linseed oil. This afternoon I made this leather sheath with a shoulder strap.
I carried a hawk like this when I went elk hunting in Colorado in 2006 and 2010 to use around camp and to help dressing an elk if we had got one.
Here are a few pics...

Real nice, Pat

I won this hawk in the St. Jude auction.

Rob made it.

I got it for my grandson.
