Shooting a hill bow vertical

Does anybody shoot a hill style bow vertically instead of with a cant? Mostly when i see someone shooting one they hold it with a heavy cant, ive tried canting different bows in the past but always seem to shoot best with the bow straight vertical.

I can, but I don't.  ASLs have a very small sight window and holding the bow vertical usually blocks out the target.

The bow im currently shooting isnt a hill but it is still a D shape with small shelf and fairly straight grip. Shooting vertically my left/rights are better. I shoot 3 under and gap

If you shoot better vertical, then shoot vertical, don't worry about what someone else does.

I usually shoot vertical with a slightly open stance but I cant slightly when I need to but seldom alter   my stance.
I can shoot from more open stances and extreme canting but find it seldom needed and not conducive to consistent accuracy.

Thats more how i usually shoot. Slightly open stance with just a few degrees of cant, just enough to keep the  on the shelf. Ive tried the heavy cant like some uae but never found it to be good for accuracy

I can't but when I'm shooting targets at longer distances less of a cant. Almost straight up.

Being more or less always shooting with the bow straight up, may limit shooting situations when hunting.  Your shooting style is better suited to straight up or nearly straight up.  Since many of my deer were shot while I was sitting on the ground and i shoot as close to Hill style as I can, canting has a number of aiming and shot position advantages that i take advantage of as the situation requires.

I don't know how anyone can shoot a stickbow vertical. I can't do it. The bow blocks my dominant eye.

I cant somewhere between 30-45 degrees depending on target distance. Long shots are more vertical, short shots have more cant. It's not something I think about, just happens naturally.

I shot a big groundhog the other day at 12 feet with my Abbott longbow. I certainly didn't think about form when I quickly drilled it right in the chest.

Shoot the way that feels comfortable to YOU, doesn't matter what we think.

I used to always shoot vertical too.
Found out I like shooting longer bows...66-70"

I hunt from the ground...mostly shoot in a kneeling position.
...I can't shoot a 70" bow vertically when kneeling...so I learned how to shoot with a cant.

I always shoot straight up unless brush or some impediment requires canting.

I like shooting my reverse handle ASL vertically AND relaxed grip. I feel _one_ slight jump from the bow, and that's it. no shock.


(bad grouping isn't because of the shooting style, I'm just that bad  )

I switched from a pretty heavy cant to nearly vertical a year or two ago because the longer bows would hang up on my hunting clothes, throwing my shots off and robbing power (only shooting about 45-50# these days).

It does mess with aiming somewhat if I'm not careful, but ultimately the accuracy is far more consistent. Can still shoot with varying degrees of cant, but not with certain clothes. I'm shooting a 70" stealth-D. The wight window runs a little long but it's a straight cut. Not exactly Hill-style.
