This is traditional archery and I can imagine hunting related, but feel delete if necessary.

About a week ago we were having a picnic and playing a river in central Kansas.  I was sitting in shallow water talking with a friend about Indian history and how I have always wanted to find an arrowhead.  As we were talking we were picking up handfuls of sand and rocks and my daughter was just downstream from us.  Suddenly she saw a "pretty" looking rock floating down to her and picked it.  She brought me the rock to show me and I couldn't believe what I saw.  She handed me an arrowhead that we had stirred up and it drifted down right to her.  Unbelievable!

I am researching her find and the best I can find is the head is 1300-900 years old.  It been fun holding an object this old and thinking about the guy that made this and what he shot it at.

Artifact guys see arrowheads. I see rocks! I could look straight down at a perfect arrowhead on the ground by my feet, and would only see a rock! They are pretty cool though!

When I was growing up in Oklahoma, we used to find arrowheads all the time. My younger brother even found a spear head that my dad immediately appropriated! :knothead:

With the monsoon that May turned out to be in the south/southeast this year I figured the "head hunting" would pick up....a lot of soil/silt got churned up in plowed fields and creek bottoms/banks alike, exposing stuff that probably hasn't seen daylight in a long time.

It doesn't happen often, but really do like finding artifacts. One reason I was never good at spot and stalk is that I am always watching the ground for arrow points.
