Ive noticed many bowyer offering a beavertail leather grip option these days.   Can anyone who has used em chime in?  Pretty interested cause they look like they would be great in the rain here in BC.

Longtoke

I have one on my toelke. I love it, thin, nicely textured, doesn't absorb a bunch of sweat like normal leather, and doesn't rub your skin like rubber. Only down side is the price and it covers up that beautiful riser wood.

I always thought that they were just for looks. After having a beaver tail grip I would say they are the best all around grip material natural or synthetic!

Got one on my Cari-bow and will have one on my BigJim bowbuild this Summer........they are very grippy.

Great grip. Abe Penner at Cari-bow Archery sells them with directions for application. He has offered them on his bows for years. Enough said.

Best feeling grip I have ever had on a bow.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Have it on my Cari- bow featherhorn erhorn.  Absolutely love it.

When I first started seeing them, My thought was "I'll have to ask a trapper friend for a tail or two. Shortly there after, Lo and behold there's a dead beaver, hit while crossing a road. Pretty mangled fur, but tail intact.
That tail is in my freezer as I contemplate my next move. I believe there was an article in Trad Bowhunter one time on processing tails for grips. I'll have do some digging to find that article as this post has reminded me of that freezer item.

Don't like a bow without one.

Does anyone have them on a recurve?

I've got one on my BigJim buffalo. It's really nice. I don't really notice a huge difference between the beaver tail and the leather on my other bow, but the beaver tail looks a lot better.

BigJim

I put them on recurves all the time. They wear like iron! I have never seen a worn out beaver  :)

I have never been happy with a personal use bow that didn't have a tail on it.. I guess I'm addicted to beaver as well.

I love the feel of those grips

I love them. I thin them down and use for arrow rest almost always, and grips when I can.
