EFA Quiver Question

I have a 2 piece EFA Cochise quiver I want to add the "totem" option to. Has anyone added it as an after thought themselves? Is it easy to install? Thanks

I've removed one (very easy) but never added one.  My problem is that I interchanged it between two bows and one had a mildly reflexed riser that the totem hit the base of my thumb on the draw.  Call Don.  the have a threaded stud for the totem that's integral to the hood and gripper and I'd think he might be able to do it easier.

I built mine using a carbon arrow with an insert on both ends. Used a longer screw through the bottom strap and put a screw and flat washer through my hood. To hide the hood screw I used a nicely shaped piece of Rattlesnake skin glued with Titebond 3. I didn't like the quiver slipping on my fades and it halted when I built my Totem. You'll be happy with your decision

having recently changed out the hood foam on my EFA, I think this is exactly how they build them.  The only difference is instead of putting the screw through the top of the hood, it's glued in kinda embedded inside the hood.  There's a layer of what looks like cured epoxy or something to protect from broadhead points going through, and the mounting screw looks to be placed inside the hood and epoxied over.  But the totem itself appears to be a simple arrow shaft with a threaded insert. 

Good job with the improvisation, I agree having the vertical shaft keeps the quiver much more stable, especially when putting arrows back in the quiver...keeps it solid.

You know now that you mentioned it I remember seeing the same thing under my foam! I spoke with Don before and asked how he made the Totem work for various riser lengths and he said his shafts are a two piece design that telescopes with a rubber sleeve where they join to keep it from slipping.

Yep, exactly that.  I've got the adjustable version as I use it on a couple bows.  Seems to be two very closely fitting shaft sizes (like you'd want for a footer) with an insert on each end and a rubber sleeve connecting the two.

Our EFA Totem shaft was developed to connect the hood and arrow gripper assemblies making it, in effect, a one piece quiver. We make every effort to keep things lightweight and traditional, so the arrow shaft seemed like a natural. Inside all of our hoods we install a molded  plate to prevent a broadhead tip from poking through the leather. For a Totem quiver we install a machine screw during the molding process to screw onto the arrow insert. The gripper assembly then has a longer screw inserted from the bottom to screw into the bottom shaft insert. The shaft is actually two shafts telescoping together with surgical tubing to hold them in place. It's a very lightweight and efficient system which works well with or without the Wing attachment.

It is best to order the Totem with the quiver. To install later you would need to remove the foam and molded pad, replacing them with the screw installed molded pad, drill a hole in the current or new foam, replace the machine screw in the gripper assembly with a longer one, and then install the shaft.

We haven't sold the Totem separately because it's a little difficult to install properly. The best option would be to get the quiver with the Totem (only an extra $10). The extra weight is only about .1 ounce.

I admire traditional guys for the way they get an idea and try to make it themselves for themselves and friends. It is the ones that copy an idea and then start selling it that aren't admirable. Someone told me recently that he was going to have someone else's product reproduced off shore, so that he could sell it cheaper. That is the kind of thinking that I believe is wrong headed and unpatriotic.

I just got my first Eagle Flight quiver last week. I must say I am very impressed. It is extremely light and compact. I got the Cochise model.

St. Jude is one of my soft spots. It's just unimaginable that we have kids in terrible situations that they had nothing to do with. Please, if you can contribute, then do so, and if you can purchase then do so. If we all participate then we really  can make a difference.

Agreed 100%!  Certainly didn't mean to imply otherwise, just that for a guy who bought a quiver without the totem a facsimile can be rigged up.  For the price you charge for the totem it's a steal to just get it done at the time of the purchase.

I'm on my first EFA quiver and love it, I'll be ordering a new one for a broadhead quiver (too much dirt in my current one from small game heads!).  Thanks for donating to the auction
