question about snake skins

Soo Im thinking of snake skins instead of a fancy veneers for my new bow ordered. Would really like some feed back. Live in Canada BC what do you guys think would camouflage best here? Also What are the most easily obtainable patterns? Lastly what about those inexpensive fake skins? I appreciate everyones opinion.

I believe you will encounter some heavy import/export fees,moving animal parts across the border.

would be done by the bowyer in the states then the whole bow shipped over

Personally, I don't think that there's any better camouflage pattern than a copperhead's. It seems to blend in almost everywhere, and still manages to look beautiful on a bow.

I second the copperhead skins. I just had Jim at Centaur bows put some on a one piece slivertip, came out awesome.

I have put snake skins on about 50 selfbows for other people and a few for myself. I think the camo aspect is more for the hunter than to hide from deer. I have never had a deer pick up my bow even when I was using a freshly made osage bow with limbs that looked line a bright yellow lemon in the sun.

I agree with Eric. That being said, I like Eastern Diamondback, but I seldom put skins on a bow anymore. When i did, I mounted my own, but from what I've read, the vinyl skins work just fine. And, they're less expensive and easier to put on and remove.

I get what you are saying and I bet that some get past the radar that way but I'm pretty sure there is an import/export process for wildlife parts.

These days the medical costs are worse than the bite.It varies a lot by hospital but a cost of $150,000 is not uncommon and heaven help you if you need life flighted.I'm more afraid of hospital and drug costs than snakes.

If your going to put skins on put the real thing on or just spray on Camo. There are lots of good looking skins that make great camo.
