I'm wondering if there is any real world difference in stability or performance.

I use the ULS in my recurves because it's supposed to be more stable and resist twisting.  I also use a strip of uni-weft too, so maybe it's overkill.

I've built plenty of bows with just the regular UL glass and I've never had a problem.

What do you guys think?

I use UL on all my longbows, its cheaper and can't tell any difference except may be a little more clear.

The reasons you listed for recurves are what I've heard also, and on TDs , maybe less splitting at bolt hole with the scrim in it. No proof on that either.

I think the splitting is usually caused by overtightening or no finish in bolt hole letting wedge absorb moisture and thus splitting the glass when it expands.  All theory . LOL
Stay sharp, Kenny.
