Thanks all.  I'm going to start finish today with a shellac coat sanded in.  Not decided yet on what to use for the final.

Ok folks, 2 weeks from today is the deadline to ship within the grace period. We're down to our final four and all seem to be in the final stages if one hasn't already shipped. We've seen updates from monterey, but for the other three please post an update and let us know where you are.

Also owe an update on the bow I received.  Trying to corral the kid for some photos but it's been difficult.  Maybe get him with me on a rove this weekend.

Yup, I couldn't do a full draw pic without giving away a bit too much information...

You were sneaky!  What wood is under the glass?

That's what I thought except for the zircote.  Has a very distinct look.  At first glance it looked like black glass but in better light it pops.

Saw you and your gator in TBM.

Getting close to draw length and weight; Hunting the Osage Bow.  Should be fling some arrows with it tomorrow.

Thanks

Close to done with finish.  One more coat and it should be done.  Then a leather grip wrap and string.  Should be flinging arrows in a couple days.

I will say that this bows sister is getting shot a lot and those little cracks show no sign of changes.  I have quite a few ASL styles to choose from but its looking like TG1 will be going into the elk woods on opening morning!

Only 4 left. I had one ask for confirmation of shipping address, hoping he confirms actual shipment soon. I had another confirm shipment, so someone should be seeing a long package show up before long. We're getting close!

I'm having stutters and difficulty with the finish.  Had it at good but decided to go for better and ended up worse.  It's a drag having to put sandpaper to a finish job.  :banghead:

A package just arrived!  Sacred mt. just sent me a beautiful osage selfbow, D-shaped profile with an ambidextrous handle.  I'm very excited to start shooting this thing.  I'll get some pictures up soon -- hopefully tomorrow.

Well, this bow is a shooter.  It's ambidextrous, which is great for me since I enjoy shooting both sides of the bow.  It flings a 600 gr arrow with some speed.

And talk about some finishing touches -- the Bolivian Rosewood tips, leather handle, sock and stringer all included.  The string was also very well done -- very clean, unlike the stuff that I make.  Luckily, I had some arrows that spine around 25#, which happen to fly great out of this bow.  I'm really going to enjoy this bow.  If I don't take it out for deer, I may yet give it a go for a winter pig hunt.  It pulls about 50# at my draw and is 62" long -- perfect for me.

I took it outside to fling a few arrows in our summer heat.  My wife saw me outside & made a point to come out to tell me how cool she thought the bow looked at full draw.  She usually rolls her eyes at my hobbies, archery being no exception.  So, Sacred mt, to have impressed her, you did some fine work!

Thank you, Sacred mt, for this awesome selfbow!  Much appreciated.
