Had a revelation while working on my form.
Take a flashlight about an inch above your form and shine it down the length of the form. Now slowly move it along following the contours of the form. The light will cast shadows revealing even the tiniest dips and bumps.

Oh yeah.....and got the form done other than the washer guides and a good coat of wax.

I have a stainless steel rule 64th/32nd one side and .100/.010 on the other,
very flexible.I check belly ramps and forms, I  can see all the bumps and low spots

A 1/2" wide stiff lam will do the same.
I use a lot of my machining tools for bow building

Lots of cool stuff going on.

I'm way behind on 2017 projects.

I don't really mind having work hanging over me.   :biglaugh:

And now the work really begins.

When laying up the bow both of my scarf joints on the actionboo lams popped. Getting those to butt together after getting everthing on the form was a PITA.  No more superglue, longer scarf joints and smooth-on.

Good job getting those joints back tight! I use CA all the time , but with much longer joints.

I apply the stuff to both pcs and clamp for 5-10 minutes while I do other stuff. Haven't had one give for a long time.

Bow is looking good, keep posting! Not much building here lately.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Not much in the way of pictures today, this bow has to be done by next wednesday so I'm moving on. Got the limbs cut out, ground down to the lines and rough cut to length. Cut out the grip throat, narrowed the width of the sight window and put a fiberglass overlay on the back of the sight window.

Right now I am scratching my head, Doing some math for stack...  Changing a few things on my design, including length, core woods, compound lam, shorten riser and trying to hit 32# target weight...

BMorv

Pulled my first attempt at a Tri-lam off of the form.  Osage/walnut/bamboo.  Materials from Kenny and design from Roy.

Life is too short to use marginal bow wood

ptothec

Finished up my red oak board bow.  68" nock to nock. pulls around 45 @ 28
