Gorgeous bow Roy! Love seeing these BBO. I need to attempt one of these again since I gave my others away.

You make it look easy Roy.
Nice, as always.

Had a buddy shoot the bow last night. At 57# it's too much for my old butt to shoot. Pretty quick and Kenny shot pretty well for the first time shooting this bow.

Looks great, is that upper limb longer, or the photo angle...

Roy from Pa

Bow is symmetrical. Center of handle is center of bow. Cell phone pictures.

Looks great, Roy.  Your shop does too...A/C and a wood stove?!
Must be nice   :)
Not many nodes on that  Madake bamboo.  I like that and have to order some.
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Beautifulbamboo.com .. Call them.
Ask for Jennifer, tell her it's for bow making, tell her you want the biggest poles she has. I got kiln dried before, but getting green poles next time.

This bow is amazing.... I really envy your skills with the BBO Roy!

Will do, Roy.  Thanks!
Why are you getting green ones next time?

When they kiln dry them, they drill a 1/32nd hole at every node to let the moisture escape. The holes are fairly lined up, but are off one way or the other about a half inch. So I lose that section. Sometimes I can work around it and get a backing with some planning. Guess I'm picky, or cheap. LOL

The boo splits very easy and straight with a machete and a hammer.

bigbob2

how long would you leave the green ones before using. I'm thinking of doing a trilam at some stage.

Roy from Pa

I'd split them and give them about 6 months.

bigbob2

thanks Roy. any special storage needs for it, or just treat like 'normal' wood?

Roy from Pa

I've not had green before, Bob. It could probably be dried in 3 months in a drying box with one bulb. I'd imagine like other woods. I'd just keep checking it with a moisture meter.
