New longbow

She started off at 62" but, was only going to make about 40#. I decided to cut it down to a 60" looks like mid to high forties, much better. She has an 18" riser, .003 forward taper, .040 glass back and belly. No powerlam but, has a tip wedge that is now 5" below the nock after piking. Haven't shot it yet need to get tip overlays on first. It was -1 for the low last night with about 35 mph winds, so I think I will wait for a warmer day. LOL
I would encourage thoughts and suggestions for the next one. There is always a next one isn't there? Should add a powerlam and if so how much past the fades should I go?

Cool Jess! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I think you will like working with longbows They're a whole different animal. What is the width of the limbs? I've found narrower thicker limbs give better performance.

Jess, that bow is beautiful as is! I don't think I would add a power lam to that design. The curve is really nice coming off the riser at full draw, and the tip wedges look like they're just right. I think you hit the nail on the head on this one. Good job!

Thanks for all the input. I will put up a force draw curve here when I get a chance. Shot it a little and seems pretty well mannered. Might even drag out the chrony and set what she does.

Nice job Jess. Great profile. I think a 16" riser and 58" -60" in length might be pretty nice as well.

Brad I guess great minds think alike. Well one great mind LOL. I have been thinking about trying to go a little shorter, just hate to build another form. Form building is one part of the process I am not real fond of.

I think if you use a 16" riser and continue the use of your tip wedges, you would have a great little 58" bow. The heavy R/D bows are pretty versatile forms. Check the profile this one I came up with a few years ago (fairly similar to your design). This turned out to make a great 58" bow form by just changing things up a bit.
