My neice and nephew gave me some osage this past week. These are osage logs from Indiana. They have had the ends sealed for two maybe three years now. They have been from Indiana to Virgina to Missouri. Now to Wyoming. I am going to split them into quaters then into sister billets. You osage guys from the east how dry do you think this osage is as stored? Now that I have it in WY low humidity I would think maybe split it and give it a month or so to acclumate?

Yep it is a very generous gift. You are right Pat nature has shown me the way for splitting. I have for once in my bowyering life more wood than I can work at this time. With all the wood I got from friends at OJAM last year, and now these logs I am blessed.

Being left in log form they are probably still holding a lot of moisture.  Get them split and they will dry out faster.

I weight my rough out bows in grams, and they let me know.
I keep one or two in the house.
