Im building my first longbow and im at the point of tillering it to brace height. I shortened the string 3 inches below the length of the bow and it wont brace up. Id love any advice, questio s or suggestions, thanks!

Keep shortening the string until you get to the brace height you want.

A string length of 3" less than the bow length is a general rule of thumb, but depending on the design of the bow, it may be more.

What are you using for a tillering string?  Sometimes the bowyers knot will slip when you try and brace it up.

Did you floor tiller it? Are the limbs bending at floor tiller? Might be it still has too much weight to string. What exactly happens when you try to string it? Is the string B-50 material?

Im in the final stage, im using para cord which has quite a bit of stetch. Tomorrow im going to the bow shop to get a string figured out.

...yes it does.  I have had a hard time getting some to brace with b-50 - just stretched too much.

Totally agreed with mitch. My last bow I built was using dracon and it stretch too much. Put the loop in the nock and it stretches and touches the full length belly of bow

I have something like Paracord on a few bows, once you pre stretch its fine.  Shot over 350 arrows with a 40# bow and never stretched.  As a matter of fact another Archer was quizzing me on it at the Range.
