There you guys go, it probably could be cranked up to weight, but I'm not sure my victim wants to do that.  The other one I'll try to shoot tomorrow.  It needs more attention before I feel comfortable showing it off.

Man you guys are really stepping up to the plate! Almost don't want to show my probable trade bow to date. Can't do much until this glass issue gets resolved.This is what i'm thinking with some embellishments to add on it yet.

Beautiful work guys!  Those are some awesome woods all around.  I've got some laminated panels coming in for a couple other bows then I can start on my trade bow.  I have no idea what I'm gonna fo yet.  Maybe I can come up with some nice domestics.

Hey, I do have a question for whomever.  When building glass bows with pretty veneers and colored glass, do you prefer the colored glass on the belly or back?  Just curious as to what others think.

I'm also waiting on some new glass, all i've got at the moment is streaky stuff....and it's just not good enough! I'm also thinking off using native English woods but we shall see. I'll be cutting some lams today and getting the riser glued up.

I always face the belly with a veneer as it's the one you spend the most time seeing, rarely use clear on both sides.

We'll glued up three bows so hat I will have a choice for my receiver.

Purple heart accent and boekenhout riser.Bubinga lams under glass. 2nd wild olive and black ivory accent and third wild olive and some wood I salvaged from a model builder in Zambia


First bow strung up 1/8 positive tiller.

Ed, that cable backed bow looks awesome!

You can see the time and care taken to get that cable tied properly. Very awesome. I wouldn't even know where to start with something like that.

Can you tell us more about the process/materials etc?

Got the riser all cleaned up.    Ripped back down to proper thickness to put in some woven glass for reinforcement and then back in the oven she goes!!

The cable backed bow is mostly just a lot of work trying to salvage a bow that didn't make weight thanks to my lying scale.  It's based around a center cord of 12 strands of B50, then whipped with waxed hemp to prevent issues if it did let go.  The string bridges help to raise the tension as well, and the lashing is to try to get all the parts to bend smoothly.  That part worked, at least.  It ended up high thirties to low forties if you crank it.  It could survive at the 50-55 my victim requested, but I felt that a bow that started out there would be a better option.  I could pike it and try again-it's got room to work.  Think I should try it?
