BBI questions

I've got a-couple questions to ask,I got some stock for x-mas and now have questions.
1- I have uinbond 800,how much do I mix for one bow,do you guys use measuring spoons?

2-my ipe is 3/4 thick,if I resaw this to 3/8 minus blade width,what draw weight could I expect to get with that thickness?

3- any other things you would like to share would be appreciated. thank-you Burt

What sort of bow do you have in mind?
3/8th is plenty of thickness for an ipe belly of pretty much any draw weight.
How straight is the grain and does it have any pin knots (which can be hard to see!).

Mikkke,I plan on useing the plans on porfolk, some reflex, non bending handle,looking to get 50-55lbs. the ipe came for Tenbrook and is very clean. thanks Burt

It's been awhile since I glued one up, but I think use about 700 or 800 grains of Unibond. I use one of those cheap arrow scales from 3 Rivers and mix the powder 10 to 1. 700 grains of the liquid and 70 grains of powder. I like brushing it on with a cheap throw away brush because it coats evenly. You have to pick a shed bristle out of the epoxy sometimes. O/w spreading it on with a plastic knife works in a pinch.

On my BBI I use between 600 to 700 grains
Instructions are 13 to 100 but above it can be mixed with 10 to 100.
I also use the little scale for weighing it is the easiest way.
I use tuna fish cans and tare out between adding each ingredient.

Agree 3/8 will make a 50 pound bow. Don't forget to figure in the blade thickness. Probably get one 3/8 and one 1/4 slat.
Be cArefull on that table saw.

The last BBI I made (a while now) was about 3/8" ipe and maybe 1/8-1/4" bamboo and 1.25" wide, 67" long and turned out around 60-65# @ 28".

That's just one example but I think you'll make 50# no problem

If your familiar with your band saw you already know.
Have a good blade in before re sawing that IPE. A little drift and no bows.
