fast flight compatible bow

if I use dymondwood to reinforce the tips of a recurve that I am going to build will that be sufficient to make it compatible for d97, or do I need to use a different material

I'd still put a layer of fiberglass or phenolic under the dymondwood to be safe.

I accidentally dry fired a bow with a skinny fast flight string (nock was too loose and I must have pinched it off the string when drawing).  The string then cut though the tip overlays and down into the limbs on each end of the bow.  The bow is now toast.  So better safe than sorry because accidental dry fires can happen.

I've used all sorts of stuff on wood bows with FF without incident, including no tip overlays at all. But I get the feeli that fiberglass bows are a bit of a different beast. I'd be putting phenolic in there for sure.

one more question how thick does it need to be

Best bet would be a couple of layers of phenolic  or glass and a layer of wood.
Maybe 3/16 total.
