64" Static Recurve T/D (more)

(can't  sleep at night been thinking about for a year crazy had to do it Static Recurve lever what the F bow)        

I did a lot of measuring of this bow
This is not my design, I just like it.
This was my inspiration for building this bow
The nocks are 8" in front of the grip
 


64" NTN
7" levers
15" riser 7.5* limb pads--7-1/2" long wedge .275 butt
.280 stack
2-.030 black glass 1-1/2"
1-.030 uni-weft glass
2-.095 butt .002 tapers bamboo floor
 

So let's get started, sanding the lams on .002 sled to .095, Thanks kenny
 

Ready for smooth-on
 

In the form and in the oven for 4 hours
The radius on the form at the recurve is 2-3/16"
Lots of dry run's to get the lam's closed at the recurve
 

both limbs out of the oven and cleaned up the sides, glue joints look good

 

sanding the limbs parallel to 1.40 wide
 

I made two sleds to sand the limb profile
1st sled  .005 taper
2nd sled  .010 taper
1st the .005 and then the .010 sled
I'am sanding the taper up the limb stopping at the riser. The limbs will be 1.400 wide for 3", taper .010 per inch total  1.230 at the lever fades  (The levers will be 1/2" wide tapering to 1/4" at the nocks

Now to make the static overlays I STARTED with 10 layers of .050 osage each one 1/2" shorter than the last. I then drilled a hole in the center of each, and a nail to locate.
The nocks are going to be 1" left and right of the nail


And the form for the overlays
after many dry runs the gaps are closed


Taped off the back and belly and glued everything with smooth on


Out of the form,  looks good


Ready to gule the overlays to the limbs


I narrowed the tips to 1/2"


And the back of the tips are angled to 1/8" ( Triangle shape)

Time to make the riser
15" long and 7.5* limb pads
Bubinga and Osage, black fiber glass and 1/8" strips of bamboo. Nothing special just stright cuts
I used a sled for the table saw


I cut the limb pads on the Bubinga before glue up


Drilled a 1-1/8" hole for the grip and started sanding with the robo sander no guide on the drum


and then a 3/4" drum
Looks more like a riser now


Now I going to drill the holes for the nock inserts


I cut the nock groves and sanded every thing smooth


And here is that Brace you wanted Pat
No issues of limb twist
The sleds I sanded the limb width on worked nice.



Next I'am going to remove some more mass from the tips

I used thread and string wax and then pull to full draw, if the string is loose then it's flexing
I used string for the picture

I chased 3 layers off, one at a time and reworked the tip fades

reduced the last 2" down to 3/8" at the string groves and 5/16" at the nocks





I finished sanding every thing and put 6 coats of Helmsman Spar-Urethane  semi-gloss, I still need one more

Draw to 28"



The bow finished up 42#@28"
This is my first one to make.
I did not have any issues of limb twist
I am pleased how it turned out          
I shot some Lighter arrows at about 22/24" draw    

When I build the next one I want to put the wood (static tips) between the fiber glass as a core.
I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE THEM THINNER ?

I smell a reverse-Grumley around here. Very cool bow. Especially like the bridges. That might be the coolest and most unique glasser Ive seen.
