Tried a tri-lam recurve

A lot of guesswork on this one, so I was really happy that it became a bow.  Never tillered one before, and I just followed my Gizmo except for the outer 8-10" and left that stiffer.  Maybe I should have kept them stiffer yet.  Didn't realize how much the tips open up until I saw the picture, even tho' I checked them in front of a mirror.  Ah well, something to think about for the next one.
It's made of my three favorite woods, hickory, red elm, and osage.  63" NTN, 1 5/8" at fades to 1/2" nocks and 45# @ 27".  Glued in 1 1/4" of deflex and the tips are reflexed 3" out from the back.  I've put 150 arrows thru it and like the way it shoots.  Draws and releases very smooth.

How much reflex does it hold after unstringing?

I like how the tips uncurl at full draw ... I liek to see ALL of the limb working personally so I think it's perfect.

Thanks much guys!  So far it's only lost 1/4" of reflex, Ben.  Really hope it keeps holding it after I shoot it some more.  Don't know if it's the lighting in my basement or the settings on my daughter's camera that gives it the yellow tint, Eric.  The handle is very white curly maple but you sure can't tell from the picture.  I'll post some more when she's finished.

Like Ben, I usually like to see the whole limb working. If you'd have left the outer 10" stiff, it would likely have taken more set in the mid and inner limb areas.

Great job - really like to overall curves. What is the typical measurement of a trilam bow regarding the riser from back to belly?

Thanks cunruhshoot!  Hmm...you should be asking ol' Roy instead of me cuz he is the undisputed King of Tri-lams IMHO.  The few that I've made are usually 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" thick (about 1/8" thinner just below the arrow pass, where my thumb and forefinger grip).  I make kind of an odd offset handle, though.   Hope that's an answer, o/w you'll have to take it to the King.

That's nice.  I really like the recurved tips. They look really good.
