here is another board bow. She is Red Oak, 35#@28" 68" it has a leather stitched handle, leather arrow shelf and felt strike plate. The string is B-50 two tone Flemish twist. its a accurate sweet shooting bow. I used a wipe on poly for the finish. I really love building and shooting these bows.

That looks sweet! Grats on the build, man! Curious though, how long did it take you to turn that out?

Did you glue on a handle section or just leave it thicker in the handle area?looks real nice!

The left limb looks like it bends way too much at mid limb, the right limb tiller looks perfect to me.

Did yo use a tillering gizmo to check your tiller?

stretch2

Twangy, thanks it varies on how long it takes because I use only hand tools. I can rough it out with my hand planer and sureform in less than an hour

stretch2

Kybownut, thanks I did not glue a handle on it

Eric, you are correct about the limb I noticed it when I took the picture. I thought I had it tillered good when I shot before I stained it. whatever happened in the finish sanding is when it happened I think. I do have a gizmo I love using it!

the shooting is what probably changed the tiller, thats why a lot of folks tiller with a positive tiller- with the bottom limb stiffer than the top limb.
i have since learnt to shoot my bow in with few pounds heavier- so that i can do my final adjustments after shooting in, and i just draw a few inches shorter - so that i never draw past my intended finished weight.

you wann see my first few bows- yours looks mighty darn fine- at least now you know now for the next one!
very nice workmanship

The right limb looks strong to me by a lot. Use a scraper. Take 10-20 scrapes. Exercise at partial draw. Check tiller.  Continue. Right limb looks ok. Jawge
